Turtle Bay are opening up a Jamaican-inspired restaurant and speciality rum bar in the heart of Huddersfield, only a two-minute walk away from the university. With over 40 different rums to choose from, it is a definitely a place to whet the palette with the finest Caribbean liqueurs.

The menu features over 50 traditional delicacies at a reasonable price, including lovable Caribbean classics such as jerk chicken, Caribbean fish curry and goat burgers. It also consists of a classic Jamaican ‘one-pot’ goat curry, flatbreads, roti wraps and their famous Jerk Pit BBQ section, which contains burgers, steaks and jerk meats. In order to achieve a truly authentic Caribbean taste, the restaurant will use West Indian derived cooking techniques to recreate an experience of the Islands.

Even some of their puddings contain lashings of rum. The Caymanas rum cake is made up of warm golden-mellow rum cake and rum caramel. And the bread and brown sugar is coated and slow-baked in a Jamaican dark rum for their rum and raisin bread pudding. Sounds delicious!

In addition to food, their menu features their own Caribbean rum twist on classic cocktails, such as mojitos, rum punches and coladas. And with a ‘2-4-1’ offer during Turtle Bay’s Happy Hours 12-7pm and 10 until close every day, they will be sure not to be missed! However if rum isn’t to your taste, the restaurant provides Caribbean soft drinks, beers and wines too; perfect to kick back with after a hard day of studying.
