Just as you were starting to think that Beacons festival – the North Yorkshire music and arts extravaganza that takes places in Skipton on 7th – 10th August – couldn’t get any more exciting, the organisers have only gone and dumped another 29 acts onto the line-up, including British Sea Power, 65daysofstatic, DZ Deathrays, and Jaws!
British Sea Power will play a special set opening the festival’s main stage, where they will provide an exclusive live soundtrack to the award winning film From The Sea To The Land Beyond, directed by Penny Woolcock. The film is a love letter of sorts to Britain’s often beautiful coastline and the role that it has had in shaping all our lives, and is made up of over 100 years worth of British Film Institute archive footage. If you’ve heard British Sea Power’s borderline eccentric, Countryside Alliance channeling indie-pop before then you know the two make a perfect fit.
Also added to the bill: Joan As Police Woman comes to Beacons following a recent sold out UK tour, recent Top 20 single scorers Indiana, Techno-inspired live dance music from Vessels , as well as critically acclaimed artists with debut albums out this year such as Paul Thomas Saunders and Post War Glamour Girls.
The full list of the 29 bands is as follows:
